Governor Minner Proclaims January Human Relations Awareness Month

Dover - On January 7, Governor Ruth Ann Minner signed a proclamation declaring January to be Human Relations Awareness Month in Delaware.
Governor Minner presented the proclamation to the members of the State Human Relations Commission which works to ensure equal opportunity for all Delawareans. In addition, the Commission promotes amicable relationships among the various racial, ethnic, religious, gender, social, and cultural groups within the state and educates the community at large regarding discrimination of all types.

The proclamation, signed by Governor Minner and Lt. Governor John Carney, re-affirms the State of Delaware 's dedication to taking a leadership role in the elimination of all forms of discrimination and continuing to uphold, promote, and protect the human rights of every individual.
The event was also attended by the Dover Human Relations Committee, members of the House of Pride, as well as state and local officials.
In addition to thanking Governor Minner for issuing the proclamation, Human Relations Commission Chair Calvin Christopher, Director Juana Fuentes-Bowles, and other attendees who work in the area of human relations praised the governor for her lifelong commitment to equal rights and protection for all.
